Thank goodness June has arrived, and with it finally the nicer dryer weather and bright sunshine we have all been waiting for! Just in time for NEWGA’s Individual Stroke Play (Ringer) event held at Western Turnpike this week. It was a beautiful day for the 40 golfers who took to playing two 9-hole rounds on the Blue course to try and better their first-round score.
The overall victors were Susan Konstalid (Ballston Spa CC) carding a gross 9-hole Ringer format score of 41, edging out Mary Ann Keeler (Western Turnpike GC) on a match-of-cards and Liz Santa Barbara (Western Turnpike GC) recording an impressive net 32 winning in a tiebreaker with Selena Balick (Shaker Ridge CC)! Great shotting ladies! Congratulations to all 23 players who cashed in their flights! Complete tournament results can be found at newgagolf.com
Thank you to NEWGA’s Western Turnpike Club Reps Mary Corrigan and Alice Dorsett and the entire golf and restaurant staff for coordinating such a wonderful day of golf, food and fun for our members!
NEWGA’s next event will be the Gail Sykes Memorial Tournament (Better Ball of Partners) at Leatherstocking Golf Club on June 19! Registration has been very robust since opening June 3 and closes June 9. We are hoping not to have to go to a lottery, so, registrants, please monitor your emails next week to confirm your entry status.
As always, thanks for playing!!
Best,
Deb DiMaggio
NEWGA President
