2019 NEWGA Updates
7/1/2019- Today, the “Purdy Brophy Two Balls of Four”event was held at Ballston Spa CC. We had a great day! The women arrived ready to play, the Ballston Spa members welcomed us, the pro shop treated us to some fun pin placements, and the food service gave us a great lunch. And, some of us got to shop after winning some chits. I’ve always thought we are winks on the first tee: a day of golf, the fun of the competition, and lunch…and, then, bonus…there may be a prize!
Today, we welcomed Gail Brophy and her daughters as they joined us for lunch. I want to thank Judy Mysliborski for speaking and recognizing Gail Purdy Brophy and her many accomplishments over an impressive sports career both in golf and in speed skating. Suffice to say her accomplishments are many and worthy of the accolades and ovations she received. Gail is one impressive lady. We are proud she is among our NEWGA Membership.
We were pleased she could join us today.
In the golf contest today, we had a field of 88 women for 22 teams competing for honors within their flights. The top winner taking Overall Low Gross with a score of 150 or 2 over par was the team of: Donna Nevulis, Kathy Harkins, Kate Oeppedisano, and Heidi Harkins. Excellent playing, ladies. Overall Low Net honors went to the team of: Mary Diefendorf, Deb Langevin, Linda Kolnick, and Betsy Baker with a 22 under par score of 126. Impressive!
Other finishing scores will be posted to the web site within a day or two, but I wanted to share the names of the top winners with you. They had a great day.
Our next event is the Mixed Event, July 12 at Western Turnpike Golf Course. I hope many of you will be able to tee it up then…entries are being accepted until July 5th.
See you on a fairway,
