From our president – 2025 NEWGA Championship at The Edison Club

For the fourth time in seven years Ballston Spa’s Sue Kahler emerged victorious in the Northeastern Women’s Golf Association’s Championship Tournament!  The Edison Club hosted our field of 38 in NEWGA’s 2025 individual stroke play competition over two extremely hot and steamy days this week on their challenging 1 over 3 courses.
We were treated like queens by Edison’s gracious, generous and accommodating NEWGA members led by Reps Kim Skiba and Carrie Hagwell, Edison’s Director of Golf Mark Fretto’s staff, along with the outstanding food and beverage service team! Their well-organized efforts provided a hearty healthy breakfast, cooling towels, hydration, abundantly delicious luncheon buffets (those homemade potato chips!!) both days not to mention efficient flighting, tee times, Live Scoring and a beautiful practice facility. THANK YOU ALL!
I am always impressed by the ladies who turn out for our Championships to test their mettle!  The dictionary defines mettle as “a person’s ability to cope well with difficulties or to face a demanding situation in a spirited and resilient way!” For me personally, the “cope well with difficulties” may still be a work in progress but “in a spirited and resilient way” resonates with me as a characteristic for all the players that competed this week. I commend you all!
It was an exciting event with the lead changing hands in the first flight over the course of the event.  Michelle Krasodomski (Pinehaven) finished runner-up, winning first flight gross and tying the tournament’s low round, carding a fiery 76 on Day 1 with Kahler matching it on Day 2 to take home top-honors and the 2025 Championship Trophy. Well done SLK!  Winners in the second, third, fourth and fifth flights went to Jen DiIorio (Burden Lake), Andi Smaila (Oneonta), Patricia Elliott (Oneonta) and Mary Assey (Ballston Spa) respectively!  Congratulations to all the winners!  Check out the full results at newgagolf.com
Registration for The Purdy (Best 2 of 4) is open until Sunday, Aug. 3.  We are looking forward to returning to Wiltwyck for this premiere NEWGA event on Wednesday, August 13, so don’t miss out!
As always, thanks for playing!
