The Gail Purdy Brophy event was held July 19th at Glens Falls Country Club. NEWGA received a very warm welcome from the President of their Ladies’ Association, and the Pro. We had a field of 112 women assembled, anxious to start their carts and get on the course. For all the crazy weather this summer, GFCC was in great shape. The course was well manicured and dry! The pièce de résistance…. We enjoyed an afternoon with no rain. Thank you, Karin for managing a great day.
As Pro Tom said: “it’s a very competitive group of ladies”. And, to attest to that, our Overall Low Gross team, stepped into the winners’ circle after a match of cards. That is competitive.
The 2021 Overall Low Gross winners for the day were: Deb DiMaggio (Ballston Spa), Rachel Barlette (Shaker Ridge), Mary Ellen Burt (Mohawk) and Laura Couch (Mohawk). The team posted a score of 150 in this two-best gross, two-low net format. That is some very nice shooting on a challenging course.
The 2021 Overall Low Net winners were Mary Assey, Roxanne Andrews, Joan Taylor and, Maxine Tucker, all from Ballston Spa …Ladies, you shot a 132. Outstanding team play!
Receiving honorable mention is the team of Anne Van Buren (Pinehaven), Mary Scatena (Pinehaven), Sue Kahler (Ballston Spa) and Gina Castelli (Ballston Spa). They also shot a 150 but lost the “match of cards”.
