July 27 and July 28, we played our two-day NEWGA Championship Tournament. Colonie CC, always a beautiful course, played long and tough. But as in all contests, one player rises to the challenge to accept our applause. Heidi Harkins of Ballston Spa took the trophy home. After two days of consistent play, Heidi posted an stand alone 36 hole score of 160. She managed to shoot 80 on each day. It was a tale of outstanding play as Heidi edged out last year’s champ, Rachel Barlette, by three strokes. Congratulations to all participants. (The link to the article from the TU is below.)
